    Using a field code in Footer (2000)

    We need help! We have a simple template set up for an agenda and all I want to do is have the date of the meeting inserted at the top of the agenda and in the footer. I used a bookmark and the ASK field to have the user prompted for the meeting date and it works fine at the top of the agenda, but I can't get it to put the date in the footer. I'm sure it is something very simple, but I'm at a loss here. <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>

    Thanks!

    The ask field has a bookmark name, as in { ASK MtgDate "Meeting Date" }
    Use the bookmark name in a Ref field wherever you want it to appear
    The easiest way to do this is Insert > Cross-Reference > to Bookmark.

    Thanks Stuart - I've tried the Ref field, and it works when I put it in the body of the agenda, but still won't work in the footer. Is there some kind of code I need to tell it to check the footer for fields as well? The Ref field has worked fine in other templates when we've used it in the header, but this is the first time I've tried anything in the footer. Does it make a difference that I have different first page selected for the headers and footers (we want the page number in the header starting on the second page).

    Thanks again!

    The only thing I can think of is that the field in the footer may need updating.

    Try selecting the footer and typing Control-A followed by F9

    It still isn't working - now it gives me an error message "Error! Reference source not found". I think I am going to call it quits for today and find a different way to work around this. Thanks for all your help and if I figure something out, I'll let you know. <img src=/S/igiveup.gif border=0 alt=igiveup width=31 height=23>

    Hi Tracey,

    If you still want help later on, you might post a stripped-down copy of your template (remove sensitive data before you post it). That way, Loungers would be able to investigate the problem at close quarters.
