    absolute addressing copy problem

    I want to calculate the no. of times each letter of the alphabet appears in a list of words.
    List of words is in a2:a100. The letters of the alphabet are in b1:aa1

    To start with to find how many of letter

    Hello,

    I have amended the formula to read =LEN($A2)-LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A2,B$1,"")), which I think is what you want. That should copy and only keep the letters of the alphabet abolute.
