    swap images automatically (FrontPage 2000)

Since I am new to FrontPage, I would like to know how I can have the webpage automatically swap/change images. I don't mean roll-over image. What I want is a image on the page and it will be changed automatically, say 3 seconds), to another image, and then another image.

    Thanks

You should be able to achieve this effect with Javascript. FrontPage does have an extension, which requires the FrontPage server extensions on the host server - but I've never used it (I try to avoid proprietary FrontPage stuff). Check out DynamicDrive for some free scripts that might do what you need.

Another option for you, could be using an inline frame, to 'frame' the image. There is a simple META TAG refresh, which you can set to 3 seconds, to have the page refresh/reload/navigate. So you could either daisy chain several pages, that point to the next page in the reload portion, or you could have one page, such as an ASP page, that reloads itself, and changes it's picture.

Sounds like a slide show. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15> There have to be many ways to accomplish that. I think the tricky part is if the images are different sizes. In working on a photo album page this weekend, I noticed FP's preview would distort images when I advanced from landscape (640x480) to portrait (480x640). Perfectly fine in the browser, though. (These were advanced by clicking a picture-navigation-bar, not automatic.)

Something to bear in mind is the size of the images - on a slow dialup line it may take more than three seconds for the next image to load!
An easy option may be to use something like Anfy which will give you some ready-made Java applets which (I believe) pre-load the images before running the show.

In FP look for the Banner Ad Manager or Component, if you have a group of pictures (it looks best if they are all the same size), you can set them to rotate from picture to picture.

    Thanks Catharine,

I tried that but it left me with a grey box when I viewed the page.

Viewed the page with what, FP or your browser? Does your browser support Java applets?
