'An Item has been moved or deleted' (Outlook 2000 SR1)

I have a user who had email notification turned on. Whenever she gets the notification "New Mail has arrived, would you like to read it?", she usually presses Enter because Yes is the default for that window. The new email usually pops open and she can read it. This has worked until recently. Now, however, when she presses Enter, she gets that "The Item has been moved or deleted" error. If she presses No on the email notification screen, then opens Outlook and double-clicks the message, that error does not occur. Any ideas?

I thought there may have been a (new) rule that moved the emails, but that ain't it. I just tried it out, but the email opens OK from the notification, even if moved by a rule (or even manually while the notification is up). No other potential causes come to mind.

Have you actually checked exactly what is happening?

I always like to see these things for myself, and take time read what is in the dialogue box. Users do sometimes make assumptions which are not always correct.

Other that that then I'm with Tim, it doesn't make any sense.
