2002 (Right and left justify the same line?)

    Hello:

    My letterhead reads like this:

    Jonathan Rick
    E-mail Address Phone Number

While keeping my e-mail address left justified, how do I right justify my phone number?

    Thanks!

Word doesn't have this concept of an alignment code that we used in WordPerfect. Instead, you set a right tab for the paragraph at the right margin.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

How do I "set a right tab for the paragraph at the right margin"?

    Thanks again,

If you just double click your ruler bar at the place you want the tab the Tab Set will appear on screen, select Right for alignment and press Set

Left align your text, and then click the area in the left of the ruler indicated in the attached graphic until the character displayed there is a Right Tab (as shown). Then click in the ruler area where you want the right alignment to occur. You can drag the tab into new positions after placing it. If you drag it out of the ruler, you have removed the tab stop from that paragraph.

If your text ruler is not visible, select it under the View menu.

One other thing you can do when you want to align various items in a document is to use a table. Attached is a 2 column, 2 row table. I merged the cells in the top row & centered the text in that row. To prevent the borders from showing, put the cursor anywhere in the table & press Alt+Ctrl+U.

    Hi Andrew,

This seems to work. Thanks so much for the graphic; it really helped!

    Cheers,
