Subform formats (2K, XP)

I have a subform in datasheet view on a Main form. I want the column headings of the sf to be Bold, but I can find no way to change the font weight that works. The font appears to be Normal.
All suggestions appreciated.

I'm afraid there is nothing you can do about it in datasheet view. If you want more control over the way the form look, make it into a continuous form. With a bit of work, you can make it look more or less like a datasheet while being able to set fonts, font weights for columns and column headers individually.

You should be able to change the font for the data too. Try opening the subform in design view directly from the database window, then setting the desired fonts.

OK on the headings, but what about the data? I can make the data fields bold when I manipulate the subform (inside the Main form) in Design view, but when I switch the Main form view to Form View the font is still normal.
Also, what does Tools/Options/Datasheet do for a living? There is a font weight option that seems to do nothing.

I should, but I can't. The subform in design view (form) , from the db window, has the bold format. When I switch to datasheet view, it's normal.
Did you see my related question on Tools/Options/Datasheet in the original post? I added that question after you had initiated your reply.

1. Tools | Options..., Datasheet has no effect on datasheets in which the font setting has been modified interactively, only on new datasheets and on existing ones that haven't been modified interactively.

2. If you stick to datasheet view, setting font properties in design view is useless; the settings will be ignored. Open the main form (in form view), click in the subform (in datasheet view), and then set the font properties.

3. My original suggestion was to use continuous form view instead of datasheet view. In a continuous form you can make one field bold, another one italic, etc. In a datasheet form, font changes apply to the datasheet as a whole.

Re item 2. I open the Main form in Form View and click on the subform, which is in datasheet view. I click on a field and check its properties. (Properties had been opened in design view.) Properties say Bold, but font is normal. Nothing I do will change the font weight.
I avoided continuous form suggestion because I thought it would take too long to get right. Hah!

There is NO connection between the font properties in the Properties window and what you see in datasheet view. You must use the Format | Font... menu option to set the font for the datasheet, and Format | Datasheet... to set background color, grid lines etc.

Success. Thanks for fonting me in the right direction! The form is just the way I want it, except for the Normal column headings. I've been using Access for a long time and just never came across the need to format a datasheet.
When I have some more time I'll experiment with your continuous form suggestion. I'm always willing to learn something new.
