manipulating popup menu on right click (Access 97 (SP2))

I'm trying to convert a software package that isn't compatible with Office 2K, and apparently, the programmer did this nifty little non-retrievable code where the user can right-click an entry on a continuous form, and it will pop up this menu where they can select another form.

I've been able to disable the right click popup display, but I can't figure out how to program it to open another popup form.

Is this possible? Or do I have to retrain the users to do it via buttons or other "traditional" way. We're trying to make this as painless as possible, and although personally, I don't care for the right-click menu, any suggestions will be very helpful.

I'm a bit confused. Are you trying to disable popups or create them?

You can create a popup by creating a toolbar, then changing the type to a popup. When you do that, Access warns you that you're changing it to a shortcut menu. Then you can assign the shortcut menu to a texbox. When you go back to the form, you should be able to right click the textbox and see any shortcut menu items you assigned to that toolbar.

    HTH,

Thanks, Celia - I think what I'm missing is the "assign to text box". It must be something really simple that is simply bypassing my data-clogged brain. Can you please point me in the right direction?

Take a look at the properties of your textbox. Under other, you'll see shortcut menu.

IMHO, it's this kind of stuff that's trickiest. But once you know it, it's SO easy!

Okay - I must have scrolled down the properties of the text box so many times and didn't see the ShortcutMenu option! I got it to work (unfortunately, I still need to build the other forms so the box is, sadly, blank).

Thanks again, Celia! I knew it was something simple that I wasn't seeing.
