Task Mgr => Networking to show correct utilisation (SP1)

When I inspect the Networking tab/window in Task Manager I notice that my Link Speed is shown as 100 Mbps. This is the (maximum) speed of my Ethernet NIC! My connection is actually via a 1 Mbps cable modem. The end result is that the highest utilisation I have seen is a bit below 1% (surprise?!). <img src=/S/snail.gif border=0 alt=snail width=21 height=17>

How can I get Task Manager to give a more realistic percentage line utilisation?

    Thanks!

John, the figure is based on your network adapter's maximum speed, not the network it's attached to. You can select View...select columns while looking at your network history in Task Manager to display actual throughput and other items, but I don't know of a way to change the NIC speed as it is noted in Task Manager.

Thanks - I thought as much, and you reminded me about View Columns (but sadly there's nothing extra which is particularly useful there).

I will just have to suffer sub 1% utilisations, then!

Now if I could get a 100 Mbps connection to my ISP ...!

Just think that you are only using 1% of the utilisation of your NIC, so you could add lots of other components to your home network and make use of all that bandwidth.
