    Macro to assign extended character? (Any)

    I want to create a Macro in Excel that will simply insert the "Eth" () character into a cell. That is Alt+0208 on the keyboard. However, when I try to record the Macro, the Eth character gets substituted by a "D"! See script below:

    ----------------------------------------------------
    Sub D_Letter()
    '
    ' D_Letter Macro
    ' Macro recorded 5/22/2003 by xxxxx
    '
    ' Keyboard Shortcut: Ctrl+Shift+D
    '
    ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = "D"

    End Sub
    -------------------------------------------------------------

    How can I make Excel use the Eth () instead???

    Thanks.

    Your Alt+0208 is a hint of the solution:

    ActiveCell.Value = Chr(208)

    Thanks. I swear I tried that.. and I did.

    Hmmm... This is weird. That works on my computer -- but NOT on my partners!

    If I enter = Chr(208) into a cell, the visual result ends up BLANK!

    Is there someway that his Excel version can be hiding those characters??

    YEP. Any extended character is NOT displayed in his Excel! Weird, ain't it? I can easily get it to work on my computer -- just not his...

    Have you tried applying different fonts?
    Can you see the character in the Character Map accessory, and in other apps, for instance Word?
    (All on the "problem" PC, of course)
