    Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 AutoUpdate

I was wondering if there is a way to disable the prompt that Acrobat Reader gives you from time to time about AutoUpdating on all of the machines in my office. I've just been telling the users to click the button for Skip AutoUpdate, but I'd like to avoid these calls in the future. We are getting ready to roll out a bunch of new machines, and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is a per-user setting or a per-machine setting (we will be running XP Pro on the new machines).

    Thanks,
    Becky

Try telling everyone to check the box to "Do not automatically check for updates"

    Re: Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 AutoUpdate

That's what I'd like to avoid. I'd rather turn it off up front so I don't get calls from all of my people asking what to do with it. Since it comes up on its own schedule, they won't remember that I told them to check the box. I still get calls about it all the time from the last time we installed Acrobat Reader (about 18 months ago), so I'd like to stop the calls now. I have been telling them to check that box, though.

    Thanks,
    Becky

OK, I see - so try going into Edit > Preferences > Update and select the Update frequency you want.

Do you know if this is a per user setting or a per machine setting, though? I can go through and set this for each user, if I must, but if it's just a per-machine setting, then I can just set it once and be done.

Should be per machine - unless someone has downloaded their own version...

In Acrobat, check Help | Adobe Online.
