Supress web links in preview pane (OL2K SR2)

So, I like preview pane, it doesn't make me a bad person :>)
We use a password protected Internet access product that times out after 30 minutes. When an email arrives with embedded web links (like most ezines) and IE is not currently logged on, every web link in the message in preview pane causes a logon pop up box to appear which will not recognize the userid/password so each one has to be canceled before we can continue. I have noticed that in OL 2002 SP1 this does not occur. The embedded web links do not activate the logon box unless you open the message. They are disabled in preview pane. Is there some way of creating the same effect in OL 2000?

Someone may have the real answer, but in the meantime you coud try Chilton Preview as a work around. It lets you preview without opening the email like the standard preview pane does. It doesn't render HTML, but does a useable plain text conversion.
