Duplicate name on network error message 4319

Suddenly I am getting many instances of this entry in my Event viewer log:
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>
A duplicate name has been detected on the TCP network.
The IP address of the machine that sent the message is in the data.
Use nbtstat -n in a command window to see which name is in the Conflict state.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>
I checked the IP address of the culprit machine on my network and found it referred to
a machine whose name is not a duplicate name at all. In fact there are no duplicate names
on the network. I haven't even changed anything lately and I never used to get this message.
Any clues as to what is going on here?
The Microsoft KB doesn't seem to help much.

Could be a router/switch that has the name cached. Have you rebooted both of the PCs that are involved in the conundrum?
