    XP Compatability?

    Hi,

    This question is about compatability.
If you goto hp.com & see the PDF spec sheet for the HP Design Jet 800 42 printer, it does NOT say it's compatible with WinXP Professional.

We asked the salesman who promised us it was saying the PDFs were "out of date" ?!
So my Q. is who do we trust - do we trust the HP Account Manager, or do we trust the PDF?

According to the Window Logo Program Qualification Service (warning: it is a very large list, over 4 MB), HP DesignJet 800 qualifies for the Windows Logo Program 2.0, i.e. "Designed for Windows" up to and including Windows XP.

Legally, to cover your rear end, you have to go by published statements.

And here I thought the question was about compatibility, not legality.

    Re: XP Compatability?

I couldn't believe what you had typed, so I went to check it out for myself. I still can't believe the website doesn't mention (anything about) WinXP support.

The company I work for just purchased one of these within the last month, however we don't use XP Pro computers at this time.

Saying this however, I've noticed with many of the HP products, the Win2000 drivers work fine for WinXP applications.

The salesman would have access to data that isn't always published to the general public. I know as customers, the company I work for had to work hard for a print HP Catalog with their printing devices, and their specs. When I get back to the office on Monday morning, I'll take a look through the book to see if it has anything listed there regarding WinXP.

Of course this doesn't answer your question (yet)...

    Re: XP Compatability?

Just a quick follow up, before I forget Monday morning, I looked for drivers for the 800 42, and found WinXP drivers on the hp.com website. So, I would imagine it's *ok* to say it's XP Pro compatible.

Again, I'll check Monday morning, and let you know what the "book" says.

Huh? Lets see Compatability and Legality. No, the definitions are definitely different. You might call that the 3D's rule.
