Where are the passwords?

I want to transfer my store of instant login passwords etc. over to my other computer. Where can I find them? Is it Ok to copy my cookies and use them on the new computer? Which files should I take?

Re: Where are the passwords?

Instant Passwords for Internet Explorer? If So:

You'll want to copy these directories:
C:WindowsTempTemporary Internet Files
C:WindowsTempCookies
C:WindowsTempApplication DataMicrosoftInternet Explorer
C:WindowsCookies

I *Think* This will take care of it for you!

No, I'm sure there's a file somewhere that holds passwords.

Re: Where are the passwords?

Okay, it's a bit of a rough test, but it seems to point me toward the cookies..

I turn on my autocomplete function, and ran filemon just before loggin into the W3T Lounge. It wrote information to the file c:windowscookiesuname@w3t[1].txt.

When I open that file, It displays my username, and my password(encrypted)... I've got the question posted at a few other resources, i'll let you know if/when I hear something..

Wish I could be of more help!

Re: Where are the passwords?

The AutoComplete feature makes suggestions by completing the address or command you type with the nearest match. The nearest match is determined by examining your History folder, the contents of the folder you specify, the contents of the Folders pane in Windows Explorer, or a list of your most recently typed addresses or commands (which are stored in the registry).

Re: Where are the passwords?

Correct me if I'm on the wrong track, but if you want 'instant login passwords' in Win 98SE and before, you're looking for a file (in your Windows directory) of the form IDENTITY.pwl. Try copying this across.

From Technet:

The passwords are stored here:

AutoComplete, User Names and Passwords on Forms:
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftInternet ExplorerIntelliFormsSPW

You may also wish to export your favorites, and cookies (you can use them both on your new computer).
