    Flexfind build 513 (All)

    Jan,
After further testing, (with 'objects' checked) I am still not able to find names used in hyperlinks.
See my flextest.zip, hopefully winzip will open this one.

    Thanks,
    Dan Arbaney

    Re: Flexfind build 513 (All)

Somehow my Admin has blocked download of zip files.

But I think I can solve the problem.

The utility searches in different areas depending on the setting formulas or values.

If set to formulas, it searches in the Address property of the hyperlink.
If set to Values, it searches in the TextToDisplay property of the hyperlink.

Alas I discovered one thing: Excel 97 crashes when searching in hyperlinks (but I present a message box stating that they won't be searched).

    Anyone else noticed this?

    Re: Flexfind build 513 (All)

I looked at his file and confirmed that it does NOT find a name in a hyperlink in excel97 if the name is in the optional "named location in file". It does find it if it is part of the "link to file or url".

Note my XL97 did NOT crash when I searched for hyperlinks.

A couple comments. Since I have XL97 EVERY time I press FIND (with objects) I get the dialog:
"Scanning hyperlinks in Excel 97 may crash excel. Scan them anyway <Yes> <No>"

It is NOT a message saying they will NOT be searched. The user has the option to "take a chance". As I said, mine did NOT crash.

A suggestion: This dialog box CAN get annoying. It might be better to have a checkbox to either search or not search hyperlinks appear if using xl97 and objects are selected. This would get rid of the annoying dialog box. The dialog could appear the first time it is checked with the option to NEVER be reminded of it again.

Also a "bug" I noticed. Sometimes in the "box" with the sheet/address/text displayed, the complete address was NOT displayed. The row was sometimes NOT there.
