    WIN 2K vs WIN XP

I have an option to install WIN 2000 PRO vs WIN XP Home Edition on a computer. Which would be the better choice?

Both will perform very well assuming you have the hardware? work or home pc? have you checked the HCL? In general, there will be more hardware support for XP than 2k. What are your networking requirements? Do you need detailed security available with 2k or XP Pro? XP Pro (if that option were available)would be even better than the other two, IMHO.

This will be a HOME pc. HCL is not a problem for either OS. Networking is simply for internet sharing. What is "detailed security"?

With NTFS and Win2k or XP Pro you can get detailed control over group access and permissions. If you are doing gaming I'd say XP for sure. Generally, I think you'll find that XP is more stable than 2k. But either will work well for you.

In another thread, it was determined that XP Home does not include any web server software. If you plan to use the PC to develop a web site or to host one (whether for public consumption or an intranet), 2000 would have an edge.

Unless of course you wanted to use Apache instead of IIS. Then it wouldn't matter

If you have a good System I would use WinXP. Has more things to offer. It's kinda like buying a Harley. You can get a Basic or a Custom. I choose the Custom. It's a little faster and looks better and has more options..
