    Formatting HTML (Outlook XP)

    Help!
I have been trying to create a template in outlook so that I can write a letter on a letterhead and use it over and over again.
However, the formatting of the header keeps moving when I send it! It has a few simple graphics, and they keep jumping around when I send the e-mail.
What is the best way to do this?

Maybe you could attach a copy of your template? It will be easier to see what you're trying to achieve, and maybe debug it.

Here it is. The lines move around, and the picture. No matter what I do!

I'm out of my depth on this one - it looks like you're using Word as your email editor in OL. Many, including Woody, recommend against that due to potential problems. But others persist, so you should get help from a more knowledgeable source in due course.

In the meantime, I noticed a couple of things about your attachment. Your headers are set to be different on the first page and the others. The first page header is empty, the second page header is filled out with the text you have on the first page. Your layout also seems to be pushing text off the page.

I note you're with the <img src=/S/aussie.gif border=0 alt=aussie width=21 height=22> feds. Isn't all this stuff set up for you as standard by the IS guys?

What is the recommended method of designing Outlook e-mails in the standard HTML, when you want to put pictures and words beside each other? When I try to compose this letterhead using straight HTML, I cannot get them to go side by side.

I suggest using FrontPage or another HTML editor, Outlook Express, or even Notepad. Outlook's HTML editing capabilities are very limited.

I think you can position images next to text using a CLEAR in a BR tag (old, fuzzy memory on that), but I always use tables for layout myself.
