    Graphs (A2k (SR-1))

I have a query that has a name, date and a running total that I want graphed. The problem is the graph treats the date as a month, not as a date. I need to show dates on the x axis (bottom) and not month/year. I have defined the format of the date as a short date in the query.
    Anybody?

Is the problem that the labelling shows a month/year format instead of a short date? That isn't controlled in the query, it is formatted in the graph. Open the graph in design view and get into the RowSource SQL. Your RowHeading should be something like (Format([OrderDate],"Short Date")) to make the date appear asa short date rather than month/year.

When you use the Chart Wizard to create a graph, it proposes by default to group dates by month (I believe); you can double click the date field in the wizard to change this. Afterwards, you can look at the Row Source of the graph to inspect and modify the SQL created by the Wizard.

When in graphics mode, (i.e., viewing the graph), double click on the graph. Then double click on the x axis. The format axis dialogue box will appear. Set the format of the date field in the number tab. (Also check the scale tab for further settings.)

Thanks Charlotte, I had found that to be the problem. I had turned off the internet at that stage so I didn't see any responses.
Your answer as usual is correct.

Thanks Hans, look at response to Charlotte. You offered the same solution to modify the wizard's SQL which is of course correct.

Thnaks Gary, but I had tried that to no avail.

Charlotte and Hans solved the problem.
