    Format Style for HTML mail

In Outlook 2000 9.0.0.3821, I'm having difficulty changing default style of text in HTML replies from Paragraph to Normal. Can this be done?

I normally send/reply to messages in text, but occasionally I need to send in HTML format in response to a text message, and it always seems to appear in paragraph style. Is this just me, a bug or a 'feature'.

are you using word or the outlook editor? using the outlook editor, i can use either normal or paragraph, although i can't see a difference between them.

    Mary:

    Thanks for your reply.

I use the outlook editor. The only difference is the spacing between the lines, which look to be triple spaced in paragraph style rather than on the next line beneath in normal. It just makes a message about 2 or 3 times longer than it should be, and not as well presented as I would like.

Yes, I suppose it is a bit nit-picking, but I would have thought that it was possible to set this up as an option. Maybe it means delving into VBA!

Re: Format Style for HTML mail

    My apologies.
I can't have explained myself clearly.
I can use either and that presents no problem. What I am saying is that by default the editor tries to use paragraph style rather than normal style. I would like it to use normal style by default. It does save having to select all the new text I write and then change the style by to normal from paragraph.

When you say that something is wrong with my setup, which part of my setup is likely to be wrong such as to cause this?
Obviously I don't want to have to reinstall Outlook just to fix this. Is it just something I'll have to live with, as a 'feature' of Outlook?
I presume that it is not something you have come across before.

here normal is the default, for both ol2000 and ol2002. my usual suggestion would be to load email.dot and set normal as default, but that's not used with outlook as the editor. i honestly don't know what is causing you to see para style as default.

I think it's the stationery. If I choose "None" I get normal style as the default. If I choose "Blank" I get paragraph style as the default. If you like custom stationery, you'll have to figure out how to change its default.

    stationery is stored here:
    C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedStationery
if you want to edit it.

but it's not stationery... i finally think i know what's happening. Its normal if you reply above the quoted but the quoted uses paragraph stye and bayanne wants to respond within the quoted material. Except when i try it, i see no difference between normal and para styles.

Re: Format Style for HTML mail

I did have it set to None anyway, but knowing the ways of some MS products, I set it to Blank, applied it, and then went back and reset it to None. I'll see if that does the trick.

    Thanks
