Obscure Word command - FileCloseOrCloseAll (Office 2000)

    Hello,

I have found a strange command in the Word command list: FileCloseOrCloseAll

I can't find anything which explains what it's for. Can anyone help ?

Re: Obscure Word command - FileCloseOrCloseAll (Office 2000)

    Hi Garry:
If you have several documents open & press the Shift key & click the File menu, you'll see the File/Close button change to File/CloseAll. Clicking it will prompt you to save all open documents, 1 at a time, & then close them. That's the command that does it.

It differs from FileClose, which only prompts to save & close the active document. It differs from FileCloseAll, because that command will prompt to save all open documents without pressing the Shift key.
    Cheers,

Re: Obscure Word command - FileCloseOrCloseAll (Office 2000)

    Phil,

Many thanks. I've tried trapping the command by creating a public sub FileCloseOrCloseAll() and I've found that:

    - Shift File Menu/Close is not trapped
    - File Menu/Close is not trapped
    - CloseAll button (on the standard toolbar) is not trapped

    - FileClose button (on the standard toolbar) is trapped
    - FileCloseOrCloseAll button (added to the standard toolbar) is trapped but only closes current active file
    - Shift + FileCloseOrCloseAll button (added to the standard toolbar) is trapped and closes all open files

The behaviour seems somewhat inconsistent. Anyway, I'll just make all FileCloseOrCloseAll commands invoke a FileCloseAll.

    Cheers
