Publish report in Word (XP and 2000)

I've prepared a report and tried to publish it in Word. At first glance, the Word version looked remarkably good. I was very happy with the result until I examined it closely. A number field--formatted to contain six digits--had lost the sixth digit! This field displayed properly in the original report. Example: 003786 in the report became 00378 in Word! Every record in this field has leading zeros, and it would not have mattered if Word had dropped one or even two of the leading digits, but this problem matters very much. What happened, and how do I fix it?

    Thanks!

Alas, the export to RTF/Word is one of the weaker features of Access. It tries to convert the report as displayed, but doesn't quite succeed. If you want to make sure that fields aren't truncated, you must make sure that the controls on the report are wide enough - wider than necessary in Access. This is often undesirable.
