Sound in the Background

Recently I was moved into a little closet-sized room/office with a door. A DOOR (woo-hoo). Now that it won't bother anybody, I'd like to play nature sounds in the background while I work (music is too distracting). Don't have anything to bring in from home (CD player, etc.) so I thought I could play something right off the web on that IE Media Player thing. Either there isn't anything out there or I don't have the correct wording to pull it up. Anyone have any experience with sites which provide free playable stuff that is not just sample clips? Found some great sites which are selling CDs of birds and thunderstorms, but I don't want to buy. Have all I need at home.

Check out Windchimes at Syntrillium Software's website. I don't know if this is exactly what you have in mind, but I found this little application a few years ago and love it for the ambient sounds. There are some spacey sounding settings in addition to ones that sound like real windchimes....all that was missing was a cool breeze across my face.

Well, I don't know whether you're interested in using software such as Kazaa but a search on Kazaa Lite for "nature birds" returns the following, I'm particularly intrigued with "Birds with Guitar" I'd pay to see that.

This is not bad, now that I've found the "Bird Tweet". Thanks! Any more ideas, anyone?

I've used Spinner for a while now, mainly for jazz , but they run good nature sounds and ambients too. Tried a few others when I was on the hunt, but found Spinner was best compromise on quality, variety, and ads. It's free, but slips brief infrequent self promos between tracks. I use them as reminders for stretch breaks.

Wow, Spinner's still around eh? I beta tested their NT4 client before they officially changed names and became Spinner. Glad to see that it's still an option, I just gave up on streaming audio...too much of a perfectionist I.

Tim, you may want to try coolblue.co.nz. It has a real time playlist which I find great to obtain artists names when I hear a song I like

Thanks everyone. I'll try all these options except Kazaa. Could get away with that at home but not at work.
