    Converting Attachments (O2k)

A co-worker sent me an email with a video clip attachment that I forwarded to my dad. He cannot open it, as he works on an iMac. Is there a way I can convert the attachment so that he can open and watch it?

Try taking a look through the Software Finds and Wants board - there are several utilities out there that can convert file types. You'd need to know what format he can read/open before you started. You will have to save the attachment to the hard drive first, convert it, and attach it to a new email message. Or perhaps your father can find a player for his Mac that supports this particular file type?

Hmmm, this appears to be more complicated than I thought it would be. So it's not as easy as Save As file type? It's not important enough to add software, just a silly video clip that my poor abs are aching from laughing so hard yesterday upon viewing!

    Thanks anyway!

Ah, would that it was that easy. You may still suggest to Dad that he look for a viewer for that particular type of file. Saving an attachment from Outlook doesn't change its format, like it would in Word - it just saves the bits and bytes to the disk with the name you specify.

<img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15> Because I tried it with file ext .qt and emailed to him. Guess he won't be able to open that either!
Oh well, thanks for the advice!
