    Windows Update

When I try to go to Windows Update Page in IExplorer, I get the following error Page. "Thank You for your interest in
Windows Update You have an older version of Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools. If you would like to download additional components from the Windows Update catalog, you must first upgrade to the latest version. Install Now." So I download the upgrade installer, and when I activate It, I get the error message that I already have a later/newer version of Internet Explorer...???? And the installer terminates.. Any Help will be greatly appreciated...Blazer

    Hi
Have you been trying to upgrade from a CD? If so, you may have to revert to the IE4 installation, then upgrade to IE5. Someone may be able to tell you how to avoid this by deleting certain files, or editing the Registry, as the download, whichever route you choose, is relatively large. Would it be of help for me to suggest a search of the MS knowledge base?

    1. Rename the Iemigrat.dll file in the WindowsSystem folder to Iemigrat.old. To rename a file, right-click the file, click Rename, type the new file name, and then press ENTER.

    2. Back up, and then delete the "IE System Migration" value from the following registry key: HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionSetupMig ration100

    Hope this helps.

Do you have a firewall like AtGuard or Norton's? If so, it might be blocking your browser from sending info about it's version.
