    HTML Email Links (Outlook XP)

Through one of the many security updates, I have lost the ability to click on a link in a HTML email like Microsoft's own HTML email. I receive the message that because of restrictions on my computer this will not work. I do not care about attachments, just links. I am a single user .
Is there any way around this conundrum?

I haven't heard of this one. Does it matter whether the message is in HTML or plain text format? When it's HTML, links sometimes try to run JavaScript functions (e.g., to pop up a new window), and those should be blocked. But the average run-of-the-mill link shouldn't be blocked.

I have the same problem with links in plain text messages also. My son also has the problem on his machine.

This is a new one on me also. Can you provide the exact text of the message that prevents the URL from being 'live'? Does you son have the exact same message? Which Browswer do you use, and if it is IE, which version? Not sure that this matters, but what are your security settings under the browser, (e.g., if IE, under Tools | Options | Security.)?

This is the message! Thank you.
I reset the web page bit and it now works.
I think I know how it happened. I have been using Mozilla Firebird as my browser since last year, but recently I changed it to be my default browser. I am thinking that somehow this is the cause of the corrupted line in the registry. I checked my son who after much interogation and clarification did not have that particular problem. He also uses Firebird, but has not changed the default browser as of yet. Until another idea comes along, I will use that reason and check out the Mozilla boards about it.

In the meantime, thanks again, and have a pint on me this weekend.

    John:

Leif came up with the answer to the problem for me. It works. I also explained what may have caused it.

    Thanks,

    Richard
