Opinions on Office 2K or XP (Office 2000/XP)

We have worked our machines to Windows 2000, and now are about to upgrade MS Office 97. The choice is, either we move to Office 2000 (We've had some users using it for some time now) or wait a little longer for XP's technical guarantee and move to Office XP (Less time testing, yet it seems to be ok).

Actually I should clarify that, we have the Pro versions of both Office 2000 and XP, but only the Developer version of Office 2000. We thought it if we go the Office XP route, we could get the developer version under the technical guarantee and start testing 2003.

So the question is, what do people like better; Office 2000 or Office XP? What feels more stable and/or more useful? Which would you want to be using day in and day out?

    Thanks in Advance,
    Cheval

If you are doing VBA, then you want the latest versyon as Office XP apps have features not in Office 2000. You can use a mutiboot system to keep a copy of Office 2000 hanging around.

You can always write apps in Office XP VBA that are restricted to Ofice 200 features, but Office 2000 can, of course, not use Office 2000 VBA.

Also, the technology guarantee, if indeed there will be one for Office 2003, is likely to apply to only Office XP.

I've worked with both and generally prefer OXP.

I'll chime in and add that I also prefer OXP SP2 over 2000 SP1 (I won't install Off2000 SP2). By and large, in day to day use, they're very similar. But there are a few little things about OXP - email address completion, smart tags - that I really like. The plus side to using it in a corporate environment is that you are fewer product cycles behind, so for the next rollout a few years down the line things are hopefully smoother.
