Flat StarPosts

"(Click HERE to view the whole thread in Flat Mode.)
_________________________________________"

Seems to have appeared on some StarPosts, and hence updated their timestamps. Maybe a NewsFlash to explain what's been done would help avoid confusion for anyone wondering why these "unread" posts are appearing amid older threads.

(Or maybe it was just a few I ran across - doesn't appear consistent?)

As for the "unread" post in the middle of a thread, because the author has opened the replied to edit it. If they did make a change or not it will change the time stamp, you will also note that they did NOT mark it as edited. It is just a sneaky trick, to get their reply looked at time and time again. We have a few users that are doing this on a on going bases, and we are keeping an , making a list and checking it twice.

As for the "click here" trick, I do not think it is from the Admin's, all I see it as a waste, since I view threads in the flat mode.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Flat StarPosts

'Twas I, I'm afraid.
After the latest StarPost was starred, I realised that the links to the StarPosts take you to a post in Threaded mode. Quite often, although containing a brilliant answer, the post on its own does not make sense without the context of the preceding posts.
As a myself, I thought it may be good to have an obvious link to allow similar users to easily read the whole thread, and so started modifying them.

I was just packing it in for the night yesterday when that same thought occurred to me - Loungers are going to wonder what is new with these old threads. I guess you've saved me the trouble of making an announcement .

BTW - there is some consistency in those that have been updated. I started from the bottom of the Index list and worked upwards, adding the link to those I felt needed it (some are just stand-alone posts, others complete on their own). I got as far as General Windows, so those listed in Word and above remain as yet untouched!

Re: Flat StarPosts

No drama. Thanks for the "inside" story. I'm a too, but I can see how the link will be handy for the misguided .

I was curious when I noticed the first couple, and soon thought I had it figured. I assumed that someone had written a script to do the deed on all star posts, but your efforts explain the "inconsistency". I guess ti will also provide a reprise on some past insights that may not have been seen otherwise.
