    Explorer

When I right click in the right paine of Explorer and go to New, I get a looooong list of choices. Any way I can eliminate some of these ?
Thanks in advance for any help !

By using TweakUI, you can remove some if not all of the items. If you do NOT have TweakUI, you can down load it from MS at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.microsoft.com/NTWorkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp> TweakUI </A>.
This copy is good for Windows 98 FE, SE, ME and 2K.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Is there any other way to do this ? Maybe in the registry ? I already use X-Setup and would rather not use clog things up with something similiar, for the most part.

    Thanks for your thoughts,

It's organized backwards, and the instructions are backwards, but yes:

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q140/3/33.asp>HOWTO: Add an Object to the New Object List</A>

I used File New to create a "new WinAmp media file" to discern the associated extension, which is .wav. I found the relevant .wav key and renamed the subfolder from ShellNew to ShellNewOld. It no longer appears on the right-click New list. Bingo!

    Hi
TweakUI is nothing to be worried about. It does not duplicate much of XTQ (which is what I've assumed your X-Setup refers to). I use both with no problem between them at all. TweakUI is also by far the easiest app to use to do things like add to / subtract from the New menu, or Add Remove programs list. Funnily enough, in Win 2k when I look in the ShellNew folder it lists three file-types, none of which appears when I right click the DTop. What appears there is what is in TweakUI, which has about a dozen to choose from - you can remove them entirely or just uncheck them so they don't appear.

You can use X-setup, "Appearance|Files&Folders|New Context Menu|Show/Hide Items", to hide any items. Works pretty much like TweakUi.

PS: This was checked with X-Setup 6.0 Beta 1. May be different with prior versions.
