Start -> All Programs (WinXP Pro)

I just lost my 60 gig hard disk (virus attack despite Norton) and had to re-install everything. So, I simply don't know how to redo some of the customizations I've grown so accustomed to. Yes, I read the ezines, have Powertoys installed, owe Windows XP for dummies, but I've not found the solution. When scrolling the Startbar then All Programs are displayed only vertically, which is cumbersome to scroll when you have lot's of items. There's a way to have the items spread horizontally once they reach the full screen hight. HOW?
    Much appreciate help,

Start > Settings > Taskbar and Start menu
    Start Menu (tab) > Customise
and (de)select Scroll Programs to toggle the setting.

Thanks, I did go as far as Customise but obviously failed to see the scroll item, well, having lost a couple of days to rebuild my system, I'm not in a very patient mood.
    Many thanks,
    Hans
