    Move to Folder (2000)

I have a user that wanted to move her inbox items to a new folder under the inbox. When she went to move the items, she clicked on Edit, Move to Folder, and instead of choosing the new folder under the inbox, she just chose the first item - Mailbox - Her Name. Now the items have disappeared. Is there any way to retrieve these items or are they permanently gone? When you choose Mailbox instead of the appropriate inbox, sent items, deleted items, etc., where do these items go? She just wants to make sure that no one can get to them on the network.

    Help!

    Re: Move to Folder (2000)

She sent them to Outlook Today?

In a test, I was able to recover such a message by running Advanced Find on Outlook Today, "Look For"" dropdown set to "Messages" (the default), in the Browse window uncheck the "Search Subfolders" box, selecting the "In:" dropdown as "Subject Field and Message Body", and finally by Searching for (try not to laugh) each of the vowels in the alphabet (searching for a blank may work, but it may also be like searching for the equivalent of a blank subject and a blank message body) - my test was limited. Once you see the messages in the Advanced Find Window, move them back where you want by drag and drop, or Edit, Select All (making sure you do in fact have only the messages you want to move), right click the messages, Move to Folder.

I notice in my test that the Folder Location is called "Top of the Information Store"; and so may be another way to specify such messages.

Ah, the trick was that I remembered having posted the same question last year - it was simply a matter of scanning through the index looking for my badge -> <IMG SRC=http://www.wopr.com/w3timages/gifm.gif>
