Conversion tool from Word (Word 2000 SR1)

    Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has come across a tool that allows the conversion of fairly complex Word documents to a self contained presentation file. Basically I want to be able to create a document in word, but use some animated graphics and other features that will not print out - and then convert it to a PowerPoint style presentation, but preferably one that does not rely on the person I email it to to have any specific software installed....

Anyone come across anything like this?

    Thanks

There is a PowerPoint Viewer that you can distribute freely (download it from PowerPoint Viewer 97 for PowerPoint 97, 2000, and 2002 Users). It supports PowerPoint animation (between and within slides), but not animated .gifs.

There are programs that will convert a specially formatted RTF document to an HTML help file, which you probably have seen pop up for various Windows programs. But these are not cheap programs, and if you don't start with their template, it might be way more trouble than it's worth.

I don't know if there is a converter from Word to Flash, but that would be another "self-contained" format that you could spend a few months really getting the hang of.
