    Protect Formulas in excel

In an Excel 97 worksheet is there a method of protecting the cells that have formulas in them? I'd like to prevent accidential erasures or changes to the formulas without having to freeze the entire sheet.

    Thanks in advance <img src=/S/new.gif border=0 alt=new width=35 height=15>

Format those cells as locked (hidden for more protection), password protect the sheet.

Tom as John says the cells need to be locked and then protection turned on through tools Protection. First though format the cells that are able to be changed and unlock them. Then turn Protection on.

As Mike notes, it would have been MUCH more helpful of me to point out that the default is Locked and Unhidden, and that all cells you don't wish to protect need to be set as Unlocked. <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/beep.gif border=0 alt=beep width=15 height=15>
