Exporting reports to Word (Access 2000)

I'm trying to export a report to Word, but the memo fields sometimes get truncated. Sometimes very long memo fields DON'T get truncated. It's inconsistent. What could be causing this?
I've tried to export the query instead, but most of the information is lost when I do this. Any other ideas?

You need to provide more information than just "trying to export a report". Are you trying to use the Publish to Word link, or what?

Re: Exporting reports to Word (Access 2000)

I was using the "Export" option under the File menu. This saves the
report as an rtf. Then I go into the document and save it as a Word
file. I can see all of the text in the memo fields as long as I'm
looking at the report in Access, but as soon as I export it, I lose
some of the lines. I'd appreciate any advice...

The export of reports to RTF is notoriously unreliable. Access tries to make the RTF file look like the report, but usually, it's just a bit off. You can experiment with the size of the text boxes on the report.

I often find the export useless, for each line of a long text becomes a separate paragraph in the Word document, so if you need to do something with it, you'll have to do a lot of fiddling.

In your first post in this thread you wrote that you had problems when exporting the underlying query. Do you mean that the memo field got truncated? That is not my experience - I prefer exporting a table or query, because it results in a table in Word. (If the text seems truncated, set the row height of the table to Auto in Word)

Re: Exporting reports to Word (Access 2000)

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried exporting the query again. I think
all the text is there, but the memo fields are all in one long line,
and I can't see how to get it to put in line breaks and continue the
memo fields. I found the setting for row height under table properties,
but it seems to apply to one row at a time--and it doesn't even work for
one row. There must be something I'm missing--can you advise?

If you select multiple rows in a table, the row height setting will be applied to all selected rows.
You probably need to set the width of the column(s) too; the text should wrap automatically then.
