Exporting from Peachtree Reports (Excel 2002)

    Hello,
A friend of mine uses Peachtree and exports his reports into Excel
    spreadsheet form.

Apparently the boss wanted extra info. He changed the report data and
entered 2 or 3 extra things in, including an extra G/L Account. Now
the data does not export correctly to the Excel Template they used.

They have asked me to help resolve this problem. I am not sure how to
do it. How do I adjust the Excel template to capture the info
correctly? Do I have to adjust any settings in Peachtree?

I know more about computers than they do but this is out of my league.

They are using Windows XP Pro, Excel 2002 and Peachtree Complete 2003.

Not sure I can answer with what little you posted. Note: I do NOT use Peachtree so I can NOT help on that end:

Do you "export" / save as an excel formatted file OR is it exported as a type of ASCII file: text, or comma,/tab delimited ?

Do you open this file, copy/paste into a standard file.
Is it a macro issue that IMPORTS and expects particular info in particular places that needs changing?
Is it just formula issues: the "copied" worksheet is no longer setup the same so the formulas read the "wrong" locations.

If it is formulas, the easiest thing might be to "import" an OLD sheet and then MOVE the cells around to LOOK like the new formatted sheet. By moving you keep the formula "links" correct. After the MOVEing, your formulas will be ready for import of the new sheet. Then you might have to add NEW formulas to link to the NEW information.

If it is imported / read via a macro, you will have to change the macro code to look at the correct spots. How you accomplish this will depend on how the macro is written and how the sheet has changed. You might have to change both what cells are read and where they are written or copied to. It might also involve changing code that reads the text file (if a text and not an xls file is opened.

Hope this helps. If you need more info, we will need more info from you.

Well, I think the only person that can answer this post is someone that uses Peachtree and Excel. Peachtree creates it's own reports according to the info in your company. So this is a combo of tweaking both.

By the way, they are using Excel 2002 and Peachtree Complete 2003.

I seem to recall that with Peachtree you can save report formats for both import and export.
You can also select which fields you want by checking corresponding field boxes.
You can also specify the order sequence of selected fields.
It may be that additional fields have been selected for output but you are still using a previous selection with a specified output file name.
