Variable duration of a task (2002)

I have a task that is designed to span the life of the project. However, I do not want to specify the duration of the task, rather I want the duration to be derived based on other tasks and milestones in the project. As I recall, I have done this with Project Scheduler, but having switched to MSP, I do know how to do this.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Variable duration of a task (2002)

What you are trying to do is create a Hammock task. That is the task is linked as a start to start to one task and a finish to finish to another task.

In 2000, you can review how to do this by looking at the following link

This may work in 2002 as well.
