MS DOS - SCANREG

I was told about doing Scanreg from the MsDos prompt - "Just type SCANREG / OPT", and this will compact the Registry down and fill in the holes. I tried, but got "invalid message" or something to that effect. What am I doing wrong? Oh yeah, it's Win98SE, and have been told also about how bad the Windows 98 Scan is - - I would appreciate info on either or both of these.
    Also, thanks for past help.

    Re: MS DOS - SCANREG

It looks like you may have a space between the "/" and "OPT". Try:
scanreg.exe /opt
