scrunched graphics - again (IE6.SP1)

(Edited by rabee on 15-Jun-03 06:45. Trouble with attachments - can't get them to go.
They total less that 60kb (jpgs)
)
I can finally show what I've been complaining about with IE 6.
The two attachments show the same graphic - The "tiny" one is actually the same graphic that the other one is! When I am not online, and am reviewing graphics I have made, getting them ready for my webpage, this will happen and lock up the computer.
It's aggrivating to the max, since it always happens when you don't have time to fool around with the machine.
These are usually gifs, converted from bmps in photoshop. If anyone has a clue, I would really appreciate some help.
I'm running Win98SE, and have done all the usual "clean ups", off-loaded a ton of graphics, and other things in the other post
in the past. Then, I couldn't get the images uploaded, so couldn't really show the problem. Thanks for any help.
Other stuff: 512MB ram, 450 Mhz processor, CAD CAM and Photoshop and Photo-type programs running.

Are you using the Thumbnail view in Windows Explorer?

No, the graphic (see the attached - - I hope it works this time) was full sized. The graphics (this is typical) start out as bmp,
the to Photoshop for resizing and changed to gif. At this stage, WHEN NOT ONLINE ONLY, the graphic will intermittently get squeezed as you see in the original post.

I feel fairly confident that this has something to do with your folder view settings. The first example you showed looks like an iconized view of the image, and the second is clearly a GIF since the path and filename are visible. Further, it happens offline, as you specified - does this mean that when you are connected to the internet and view the same image, from the same location shown, that it's OK, and is not when you are disconnected?

There is a missing piece or two of information here that's crucial to solving the problem.

Hi, Raybee ~

I would venture to say this is a problem with Photoshop rather than w/ IE.

As you have mentioned in the past, this is not happening with other images not manipulated w/ Photoshop and then only when offline. I am not familiar with Photoshop and its many, many features and settings, but the fact that this occurs only offline is suggestive of somewhere in the process of converting, there may be a setting you are either enabling or not enabling in the save/convert process so that the resulting image's properties do not allow IE to correctly render the Photoshop-modified image until it has access to the web for perhaps a codec/plug-in/other so IE may render it properly.

I would recommend you might try contacting Photoshop support.

Re: scrunched graphics - again (IE6.SP1)

A solution to IE6 scrunching the graphics.
I think I had an overload with IE6. So, I split the one large folder into three smaller ones, and since then, (just a couple days) it has not happened again. There is apparently a limit to how much stuff you can have in one folder, and I must have gone way past that limit. I'm posting this in case someone else runs into the problem. Thanks for all the help and patience.
