    Unique Field Values (2002 SP-2)

    Good Evening,

I'm looking for an efficient way to remove duplicate items from a query. I would like to remove any records with a duplicate in a given numerical field. Note that the unique record method is not what I'm talking about - I just need to block any records that have the same value in the given field. I only need the record once.

Thanks in advance for your generous assistance!

If the records are duplicates on the given numerical field, but not on other fields, how are you going to determine which one to keep and which one(s) to delete?

I hear ya. But the fields I'm putting into the eventual Report would be full duplicates - unfortunately, some of the necessary qualifying data in the query generates a repetition in that report data I'm trying to avoid.

If the records are full duplicates, either making the query into a Totals query (and leaving all the Totals options as Group By) or setting the Unique Values property of the query to Yes (equivalent to using SELECT DISTINCT in SQL) should get rid of the duplicates.
