    ProductID (Office 2000)

I'm looking for a way to read the productID of Office 2000. I'm developing a set of Office 2000 templates, and are looking for a way to make it difficult to copy these templates to another location. How can I retrieve the PRODUCTid of Office 2000? Thanks in forhaand.

    Brilliant !!

But there is one nag ........ The number I'm seeing in Help | About ... | is totally different from the one from "MsgBox Application.ProductCode". Is this the "same" number, or ...........

Is this ProductCode crypted in some sort?

    Yeeeeeeeeeeesssss!!!! This is working !!!

Some error correcting from previous msg : MsgBox Application.ProductCode and not ID

and in registry it should be : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftOffice9.0Regist rationProductID

But this is just fantastic !!! Thanks a million !!! You guys are really full of knowledge !!!!

Thanks for the explanation. I just ran the codeline I provided and thought it looked so much like an ID I just assumed it to be the one.

    Re: ProductID (Office 2000)

    (Corrected some errors)

Application.ProductCode returns the GUID (globally unique identifier) for Excel (or Office, depending on what you have installed). The "real" product code is a value in the Windows registry with this GUID as name, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoft9.0Registration ProductID. So you'll need to read the registry; you could use Scripting for this, but that is disabled in many corporate environments, so using Windows API calls is probably safest.
