Contact Lists & Misc. (Outlook XP)

In Outlook I have a global contact list which is everyone on my LAN and my personal contacts. When I create a new message I would like to see my personal contacts first not the global contact list. Is there a way to change the default contact list (which one it shows first)? Also, when I am sending a new message and navigate to my personal contacts it shows two names. It only does this on the contacts that have a fax number specified. Is there a way to filter this list so it only shows contacts with e-mail addressess?

    Thanks,

    Darrell

Try Tools|Services|Addressing [the last of the three tabs]. Promote Outlook Address Book to the first item. HTH

I don't have a services tab in XP. Outlook 2000 and earlier worked this way but I'm stumped with XP. DGS

In XP (also works in 2000) open the Address Book and from the Addr. Book menu select Tools | Options.

    Ok, that works. Thanks!
Now I just need to figure out how to filter out the contacts with fax numbers so they don't show up twice.

I'll let <!mskb=305361>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 305361<!/mskb> give you the bad news. One way around this is in <!post=this,259759>this<!/post> thread. A more tedious way is to keep all your e-mail addresses in a PAB.

Looks like another undocumented feature. This has been a problem in three releases that I know of (Outlook 97, Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2002). Thanks for all your help.

We forget that Outlook is designed to be a Fax client as well as an e-mail client, so it will be a problem whenever Contact Folders are selected as an Address book, until MS provides a specific mask to hide them. <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>
