    Protecting a database (Office 2000 / Windows 98)

I have designed an Access database that I want to sell. I know that I can convert it to a mde file which people cannot alter. But I want to be able to lock it so that after say a year the user has to come back to me for an key to use it for the next year.

The idea being is that if a user passes it onto a friend, it will only work until the key expires. Ideally it will be a randomly generated key so that one person cannot ring up get the key and then pass it on to all the other users.

I assume that it will start like an Autoexec query or something and much as I hate parting with money, pointing me in the direction of a commercial or shareware product would help

Any help will be much appreciated
