    NUMPAGES field

Has anyone run into problems using this field? (It's the one where you can say "Page 1 of X pages", X being the {NUMPAGES} field and supposedly representing the total number of pages in the document.)

If I use this in, for example, a 3-page document with only one section, what I get is as follows:
    - on page 1 it says Page 1 of 1
    - on page 2 it says Page 2 of 2
    - on page 3 it says Page 3 of 3

(And yes, I used Alt F9 to verify that the field really is {numpages} rather than just the page number field.)

Any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?

    Hi,

It's not your problem- it's Microsoft's. Check out http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/PageXofY.htm for an explanation and workaround (That's an excellent site for Word stuff by the way); on the Knowledge base, for Word 97 it's

    and for Word 2000 it's

Thank you. It's always nice to know that it's not me, it's THEM! And even better to know that there's a fix.
