    Manage LNK files (XP Pro)

Is there a way to manage LNK files? Specifically, I'd prefer if certain file types (say, *.doc) did not establish links in My Recent Documents, or alternatively, that I could write a script that would go through my LNK files in a folder and delete those that linked to a certain file type (say *.doc).

Sure. Create a one line batch file like:

    <pre>del "documents and settingsyour-user-namerecent*.doc.lnk"</pre>

You could do it in VBScript, but it's more work.
