Re: MD5 Hash (266667) was moved to the Software Fi

The question was not about Spybot. The question was about how to authenticate a program (in this case Spybot) signed using an MD5 hash. This is an industry wide practice not restricted to Spybot. Microsoft "signs" their programs, as do many other vendors.

Programs can be signed using MD5 hashes, SHA1 hashes, PGP detached signature files, etc. My question was: how, in Windows, does one authenticate a signed program to ensure it has not been tampered with?

You've got a point there, but I still think that the general Software forum is more suitable than the general Windows forum.
Anyway, you got replies over there, so I hope that the inconvenience is not too bad.
