Struggling with a formula (Excep xp)

I don't know how to setup the formulas to do this...

In K10 I have either "sig" or "not sig". In L10 I have 37.5 and in M10 I have 33. I want to put in A10 either the words "Increased", "decreased" or "unchanged".

Increased would go in A10 if K10 is "sig" and L10 > M10
Decreased would go in A10 if K10 is "sig" and L10<M10
Not changed would go in A10 if K10 is "not sig"

I don't know how to set up this formula in A10 or if it can be done in one formula. Any help is greatly appreciated. thank you.

Re: Struggling with a formula (Excep xp)

    insert into a10

=if(k10="sig",if(l10>m10,"Increased", if(l10<m10, "Decreased", "No difference in values")) ,"unchanged")
Note the addtional text "Noddifence in values is for when l10 = m10 which was not catered for in your explanation.

Re: Struggling with a formula (Excep xp)

thank you so much. That worked great.

Here is another one i have. I tried using your formulat

    =IF(G20<>"",IF(F20<6,"Bottom 5", IF(F20>27, "Top 5")),"")

F20 contains a number. If it's less than 6 i want A20 to say "Bottom 5" if its greater than 27, i want A20 to say Top 5. I put the above formula in A20. It is coming out with the word FALSE. I've experimented with the IF(G20<>"", and tried different things but can't get rid of the word FALSE. what am i doing wrong? thanks

Re: Struggling with a formula (Excep xp)

    A feew suggestions..
What is the value of G20?

If it is 0 it will give a different result to "".

is cell A20 formatted to General ( It may be set o something like "TRUE";"False";"FALSE" in the cell formatting).

If these don' t help, please post a cutdown sample of your problem, the lounge is here to help

Re: Struggling with a formula (Excep xp)

Your formula only returns FALSE if F20 is in the range 6 to 27 inclusive. When this is the case your formula evaluates through to the 3rd IF statement for which you have not provided a 'value_if_false' parameter.

    Try something like =IF(G20<>"",IF(F20<6,"Bottom 5", IF(F20>27, "Top 5","Indeterminate")),"")
