    Underline words (2002)

    when I try to print out the document that I've linked from Excel, those words that I've underline in excel become does not appear as underlined. It will show as if the words are being cancelled.

    What can I do to make sure that when the document is printed out, the words that I've underlined in excel shows what I want?

    Hi Minyi:
    In Word, press Alt+F9 to turn on field codes. At the end of the field code (before the last curly brace), type

    * MERGEFORMAT

    Then press F9 to update the field & then press Alt+F9 to turn off field codes again. See if that helps.

    Hi Phil

    I've tried your method but it just doesn't work.

    Can anyone please help me! I just want to make sure that when I print out my document in words, the heading that I've underline in Excel (source doc) will turn out as what it is.

    Hi Minyi:
    1. Does the Excel spreadsheet show underlines when you view it in Word? i.e. is it a printing or viewing problem.

    2. When you press Alt+F9 to view the codes, what are they?

    3. When you linked the Excel spreadsheet in Word, what did you do to link it? e.g. Edit/Paste Special.../ & what option did you choose? (e.g. unformatted text will not carry the underline over)

    Hi Phil

    1) the problem happens when I print the document. Viewing is ok as it reflect as what is on the excel.

    2) the code is: { Link Excel.Sheet.8 "C:Minyi:Financial packages and GMMFY0304 ReportGMMMay03New GMM Format_Working-May03.XLS" "P&L account!R6C1:R50C11" p *MERGEFORMAT }

    3) I use paste special, paste link, Microsoft Excel worksheet object

    This does not seem to be a general problem - I couldn't find anything about is in the MSKB and in the Microsoft Newsgroups (and it doesn't occur on my PC). Do you have the most recent drivers for your printer?
