Slideshow on CD

(Edited by D Willett on 23-Jun-03 08:11. )
Hi all
My Father In Law has recently had a new PC with a CD writer and a camera.
He takes this camera everywhere with him, (believe me, EVERYWHERE) any way.

He's not very computer literate and stumbles thru the best way he can with various tasks.
He's asking me how to take images off his computer and put them on a CD so he can view as a slideshow on his DVD player.

I wondered if any of the members knew of an easy to use utility, program which ever, obviously a free download, so I can put him on the correct path.
He hasn't much money so the emphasis is on free download.
    He's running Win98.

    Thanks all

    Hi, Dave ~

I was turned on by a good buddy with a cool Halloween CD made with 'LPJ Slideshow'. It is free, easy, for 95, 98, NT, 2K, Me, XP and the recipient of the CD won't have to install anything.

You can get LPJ-Slideshow v1.6.2 from PC World or LPJ-Slideshow v1.7.4 direct from Lars Jeppesen's site.

    Thanks Bruce.
I downloaded the program and it's simple to use.

Have you used this on a stand alone CD in a DVD player and how did it re-act ?
I'm wondering if it will autoplay.

I found another program, which seems exactly what my Father In Law needs, DVD Pixplay.http://www.xequte.com/pixplay/download.html"

Very simple to use, nice and easy interface. although it has to be registered, the Reg key seems extremely reasonable.

    Thanks for you time.

    Hi, Dave ~

Just so you are fully aware, DVD PixPlay is not freeware and holds a purchase price of $19.70.Your emphasis was on free thus why I suggested the LPJ Slideshow.

    Hi Bruce

Yes I did emphasise "Free" but looking around, I only stumbled upon the Pixplay software.
The $19..... dollars is probably about

    Hi, Dave ~

There was no misleading and no need to apologize - I just wasn't sure if you knew it wasn't free. DVD Pixplay presents itself as a good app and the price is fair.

Oh, and you should know that her money is her money and your money is her money

    Re: Slideshow on CD

Well, I tested your "find" Bruce and I really like its simplicity. I now need to dabble a bit with the INI file to see how I'd like it to run and I think I'm going to burn a CD with two years of grandson pix for family in New York and Florida. The guy's done a nice job with the program.....

I forget the procedure, but I think that IrfanView will do it too????? And it too is . If only the search thingy was on line I am sure that it was talked about in the past.

her money is her money and your money is her money

Guess I'm lucky then the rule in our house is "her money is her money and my money is our money" with half going to my wife and half to my daughter and I get to keep ALL of the rest!

    Hi, Al ~

Actually I have to give Doc Watson the credit on that - he made a pretty cool Halloween CD and that is how I got turned on to it.

Are you using the latest LPJ version? If you have a console DVD player, with respect to Dave's inquiry, would be curious to know if it plays.

Thanks all for the superb links and software finds.

The wife thingy doesn't just contain it's self with the money side of things, she usually say's:
