Note as shortcut or icon on Desktop (xp/2002)

    Hi,

I've written a little macro which allows me to put an icon in the tool bar which automatically pops up a little yellow post-it note (sorry, the correct terminology evades me since I compute in German. Great - works fine. Is there any way that I can get that icon onto the desktop or the tool bar? I don't believe that any Office program allows one to do that - the program apparently must be open.

    Thanks,

    Randy

Try creating a shortcut to Outlook then add

    /c ipm.stickynote

to the end. The full shortcut will look something like the following, depending on your folder and version in use.

    "C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice10OUTLOOK.EXE" /c ipm.stickynote

    Hello Leif,

Thanks very much for the quick response, we're getting close. What I still need is for the note to be in the foreground at all times. Any ideas?

Do you mean the note itself, or the shortcut to it, to be in the foreground?
If the latter, drag the shortcut onto your QuickLaunch bar as below.
If the former - I believe there is some software that can force applications to be 'on top' - I'll see if I can dig it out...

It's the note I need on top. Appreciate your help.

I cam across Focus Genie which might do the trick.

Thanks, Leif. Actually, I was looking for something that could be done from the command line but I'm obviously asking a bit much. Focus Genie... yes, it works, but somehow it's almost more complicated than doing it manually.

I need to put this computing aside for twelve days now - I'm going sailing in Croatia - and MS-Outlook is guaranteed to be one of the last things on my mind for the duration. Should anyone else have any ideas I'd much appreciate it.

    Ciao,

    Randy
