Office XP (XP)

I just purchased a new WinXP computer and installed Office XP. I have notice the following problems:
1: Outlook Express is not storing any e-mail login passowrds
2: Internet Exploder 6.0 is not storing either username or login information
3: I am unable to share my contact info between Outlook, and Outlook Express
The computer manufacture had me go in and create a new user and try my e-mail and Internet Exploder that way. That worked at first then they had me import my settings from one user name to the other and guess what...Same problems creeped up.
Any assistance with these issues would be greatly appreciated...or should I just reformat and install Office 2000? Although I don't see how that will help the e-mail and or Internet Exploder issues.
Thanks
John

Regarding Outlook Express passwords, see if this thread helps, or perhaps continue there on that part:
Password in OE (6.0)

What is the connection with Outlook. Are you using Outlook and Outlook Express, or just one of them?

I may be able to help with #2:
In IE, Go to Tools/Internet Options/Content tab/AutoComplete button/AutoComplete settings & put a tick by the usernames & passwords on forms.
Cheers,

I use Outlook as my contact manager, and Outlook express as my e-mail client. In Office 2000, Outlook and OE would (if you told it to) share your contact information. Maybe Im just gonna have to give up OE????

I'd post that question on the IE board then. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's because of Office XP.

Re: Office XP (XP)

The procedures for Outlook 2000 laid out in these articles sound pretty terrible. Was there another way?

Corp/Workgroup mode: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 242537 - OLEXP: How to Use Outlook 2000 Contacts in Outlook Express 5
Internet Mail Only mode: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 196348 - OL2000: (IMO) How Do I Share Information Between Outlook and OE

Anyway, if you want to import into OE6, I think you can do that using Tools>Address Book...>File>Import>Other Address Book and look for anything that sounds like Outlook. Since I have not designated my Contacts folder as an Outlook Address Book, I don't get that option, but my old PAB is there. (To avoid creating problems for myself, I didn't test what happens after this step.)

Re: Office XP (XP)

you are correct I can "import" the address book in a csv format from Outlook to OE. However in Office 2000 I was able to "share" my Outlook and OE adress books. thats what is missing from Office XP.... thanks
Thanks John

Re: Office XP (XP)

Not entirely sure on this, because I havent used OE in awhile, and I haven't done this on this install of Windows yet (new install as of a couple days ago) but I have seen it done before.
So after that disclaimer, here goes

You need to specify that your Outlook Contacts = Windows Address Book

Aha! I found it. Page 241 of Special Edition using Office XP by our good pal Woody
start>run>wab<enter> that's Windows Address Book, not Woodward Ave Brewery for those of you in Detroit

tools>options and select Share Contact Information option. this makes your Contacts folder the same as yuor WAB, and changes in one are relfected in the other, and OE grabs it's addresses from the WAB, so that should do ya

Hooray for Woody!
