    Re: Fill in Ref (Word 2002)

    Hi Danielle:
    1. Bookmark the Fillin field; i.e. give it a bookmark name.
    2. Put your REF field where you want.

    When you type information into the fillin field, & update the REF field (F9) the REF field will reflect it.
    Cheers,

    As an alternative, you could use an ASK field. ASK fields do create bookmarks, but you need REF fields to display their results - even at the point of insertion.

    Phil, Would you please help me again? How would you add a line of text filds into one text field. It's so the sales team can list a price of products and have the total self populate.

    Thanks, Danielle

    Re: Fill in Ref (Word 2002)

    Hi Danielle:
    I've attached an example of what you've asked for. There are 3 bookmarked items named bmk1 through 3. The equal formula can be seen if you press Alt+F9 to display the codes. You create it by pressing Ctrl+F9 to create the braces & typing what's inside so it looks like:

    { = (bmk1+bmk2+bmk3) }

    You can also bookmark the REF fields & total those & I have an example in my attachment. However, this isn't the most efficient way since it's easy to delete the bookmarks & a hassle to create them. As macropod mentioned, ASK fields create a bookmark. Also, you might be better off creating a template that you protect for forms. You can have text & dropdown fields. They have bookmark names & can be totalled. If you check the box, "calculate on exit" (in the form field), the total will update automatically.

    Hope this helps,
